Descendent

The Sitri Center Arc | Episode 6

""Our descent, then, is the origin of our evil passions." - Nietzsche

Summary

Meg and Tessa work at a research facility conducting dream-based experiments on subjects. After analyzing detailed recordings of sessions with their research subject Lyra, they discover something unexpected within her hypnotic dreams: geographic information that appears to correspond to actual locations within the facility itself. The dreams reference five distinct stations named after places in Sumerian mythology and history: Eanna, Sippar, Kutha, Ereshkigal, and Ur. Convinced they have uncovered a hidden map embedded within Lyra's subconscious recordings, Meg and Tessa decide to follow this map through the facility's service corridors and restricted areas.

Full Synopsis (Spoilers)

Meg and Tessa follow the dream-map through the facility, discovering each location one by one. Each station reveals different operational aspects of the research being conducted. At Sippar, they find archived files documenting early phases of the dream-engineering program. At Kutha, they uncover equipment designed for synchronized group dreaming, suggesting the facility has capabilities beyond individual subject manipulation. At Eanna, they discover records suggesting the institute has been operational for far longer than its official founding date, with connections to earlier research institutions.

As they move closer to the final location, Ur, the stakes become increasingly clear. Their exploration culminates at a sealed chamber that remains locked to them. Desperate to access what lies beyond, they realize they must return to Lyra to extract information she may have dreamed but not yet fully remembered.

What unfolds is a negotiation between their need for answers and the recognition that to understand the machinery requires immersion in it. The episode ends with them returning to the observation chamber, understanding that access to the deepest level of the institute demands they become subjects themselves, descending further into the system rather than escaping it.
